The guitar is a pinched string instrument played with the fingers or with a pick that can have from six to twelve strings although the majority of guitars only have six strings and the majority of basses only have four.
It is by pressing your fingers along the fretboard and plucking the strings that you obtain different notes and to get a higher pitched note you move your fingers towards you on the fretboard or use play on one of the thinner strings.
The guitar is a very popular instrument and it is used in variety of styles like rock, blues, pop, jazz, country and classical (to just name a few).
The guitar is often accompanied by
other instruments or by one or more vocalists but it can also be played
solo.
